Water Safety at the Briggs School!

Community Pulls Together to Support Water Safety

The Briggs School in Jefferson Township is ready to jump into summer. Safe Kids Northern NJ and the Jefferson Township Police and FIre Department conducted a Water Safety Program on Wednesday June 4th at the school.

With assistance of the PTA, 3 stations of water safety provided the children with an interactive educational experience. What is Drowning, Reach and Throw Do Not Go and Watch  the Propella,  provided a unique learning experience.

To start the program, every child was fitted with a Personal Floatation Device. "These children are at a high risk for water injury dut to their living and play areas being close to Lake Hopatcong", noted KJ Feury, Safe Kids Northern NJ Coordinator. "Avoiding one near drowing with the use of a PFD is worth the cost and effort of the program".

Safe Kids Northern NJ provided the PFD to all the children in an effort to raise awareness of water safety. Many thanks to the Police Department and the Fire Department for sending personnel to participate and a special thanks to Mickey for brining the boat!
