Cycle Safely

Cycling Safely :

With any form of wheels at our feet safety precautions are sure to follow.  Many cyclist are often killed in Bicycle-motor vehicle collisions but dangers also lurk in playgrounds, dirt roads and bike paths if safety precautions are not implemented. However we can take action before the accidents happen by following these safety tips.

In New Jersey Bicycle riders have the same rules as drivers which include riding on the right side, obeying all signs, traveling no more than two abreast when traffic is not impeded, and riding with traffic. We must also be aware of the DON’TS when it comes to bicycle riding. Do not attempt stunts or tricks, ride with more people on the bike than it is designed to accommodate, tag along to moving vehicles, weaving in and out of traffic or between cars, ride against traffic, or ride at night without lights.

Before we pick up our bikes and get on the road make sure your gear fits your body such as wearing the appropriate helmet and having the appropriate bike size for your height. Lets not forget accessories the lights, reflectors and bells are great ways to remain visible in your environment and knee and elbow padding provide great additional support. With these safety precautions implemented you will be ready to ride.
